Last weekend, Samsung displayed a giant LED display in the shape of the Formula 1 logo at the penultimate Grand Prix of the competition’s 2023 season. The new panel debuted at the Las Vegas GP, in the United States, and attracted attention.
The Samsung display was used to reproduce the F1 logo in its classic red color and also to show images of the city of Las Vegas, the racing cars and drivers, as well as the highlights of the race, which was very exciting, by the way.
According to the South Korean manufacturer, the panel has a total surface area of 261.67 square meters, extends over 146 meters and is made up of 22 million 10-millimeter pixels. The LED display was installed above the boxes.
The technology company highlighted that all of this was only possible through its partnership with Liberty Media, the company that owns the rights to F1, and Las Vegas Grand Prix Inc., responsible for the GP in the city in the state of Nevada.
During the race weekend in Vegas, other Samsung displays were also used, such as the trapezoidal escalator with more than 9 million 3.9mm LEDs each covering a surface of 137.5 square meters.
In the stands, Samsung installed three 87.4 square meter displays with 1.2 million 8mm pixels, with a brightness of more than 8,000 nits, and integrating HDR10+ technology, which allowed the public to follow all phases of the race.
“The installation of these world-class Samsung displays adorns the Las Vegas Grand Prix pit building and revolutionizes the way fans in the stands watch a race,” said Samsung’s senior vice president of Display and Home Entertainment divisions. Electronics America, James Fishler.
