Meta, owner of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, managed by Mark Zuckerberg, reached the mark of 3.14 billion active users per day in 2023. The number is 7% higher than last year. As a result, the company recorded revenue growth above analysts’ expectations. To give you an idea, big tech had revenues of US$34.2 billion in the third quarter of this year. The result was above analysts’ average estimate of revenue of US$33.5 billion. Net profit was US$11.58 billion, which represents growth of 164% compared to the third quarter of 2022. This shows that, despite having a smaller number of employees, Meta is maintaining its results. In recent years, the company has reduced the number of employees by 24%. The most recent cut occurred between the end of 2022 and the middle of 2023, when more than 21 thousand workers were laid off around the world, including in Brazil. Today, big tech has 66 thousand employees.
